Verses for When…

Verses for When…

I am going to start a new series of posts called “Verses for When…” Originally this was meant to be just one post. But as I go through my notes and my most visited verses I see there is much more than can be written in one post. Please note that I did not just google some topics and pick the verse on the top of the list. These are verses that the Lord has given me in my time of need. I am praying that these verses can be a blessing to someone else as well.

” This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.”

Psalm 118:23

Sometimes we are praying for something and God answers differently than we would like. Things don’t go our way. It is so easy to feel that things are just going so wrong. But if it is the Lord’s doing it is marvelous and should be viewed that way. That’s a hard pill to swallow especially when it means that we don’t get what we wanted. We need to remember that “the Lord is on my side.” (Psalm 118:6) He wants us to be happy. He gives us what we need, not always what we want.

I don’t expect you to just read this verse and instantly be restored and happy with whatever you may be going through right now. But let it be a stepping stone to help you across the hard time and become closer to where God wants you to be.

  1. You are very right, but it’s sooo not easy! I sure don’t know the mind of the Lord. Sometimes He gives me a little peek into what He is going to do, but other times He simply wants me to trust Him without knowing what He is up to. This is hard for me. It’s just really hard when things don’t go the way I think they should and I wonder why because after searching my heart I realize that I am close to God, really close and He has confirmed that I am, yet “bad” things still happen, but I’m not supposed to consider them bad because God is in control and He is working everything out for my good, but sometimes I have such a hard time believing that. Bad things happen, but I can’t see the whole picture. His ways are so much bigger than mine.

    1. It is definitely not easy. I am learning that first hand. We have to remember that God never promises that nothing bad will ever happen to us just because we are close to Him. Look at Job. He was living right and close to God and lost everything. But, although it was a bad thing, it had a purpose and brought glory to God.
