My first blog was started when I was 15. Back then I had one just because everyone else had one. I barely remember it and I have no idea what I wrote about. I forgot about it for a while then when I went to college it was again a “thing”. Everyone else had one so I thought I might as well start one, too.
That blog I remember. It was what I call a Commonplace. That is when I take quotes from my friends that made me laugh and just write them down to remember them. That’s what my entire college blog was about.
When I moved to Inuvik my blog changed from a commonplace to a way to keep up with my family. I didn’t have Facebook back then so my blog was a place to share photos and stories with my family. To be honest, I don’t know how many people followed it or read it.
Then in 2016 I decided I wanted something new. I was starting to realize how many blogs I visited were “mom blogs”. They were women just like me with crazy children running around taking photos as they could and writing posts about their days. And I loved them.
I read A LOT about blogging and researched what all goes into it. I’m not going to lie- there’s way more to it than I expected. If you were to go back to some of my earlier posts you’d (hopefully) see I’ve come a long way since then. I still read constantly about blogging and am learning something new about it everyday.
The main reason I blog now is to have something for me. This is an ongoing project for me. Like I said, I spend time reading about it and learning new things. I spend time writing and editing. It’s a hobby that is relaxing for me and I enjoy the interaction I get between myself and all of you. I love getting your comments and feedback. I like having this platform to just talk about what I am most interested in at that time. It’s fun.

I chose to use WordPress because I love the format. It’s very easy to use. After I had been creatingkilter.wordpress.com for about a year I decided I was ready for my own domain name and I needed a host. I chose Siteground as my web host.
I chose them because I read that they had great customer support and they did not disappoint. They helped me move everything from my first blog over onto what is now Creatingkilter.com. They responded immediately to any questions I had. I couldn’t be happier with them.
So, if you are looking into starting a blog and would like to get your own domain name (which I highly suggest) go with Siteground. They have great service at a great price.
Have you used Siteground yourself? Or maybe you use another web host. Feel free to share below what you use and what you do don’t like about your host.
