Fear Not (for God hath heard)

Fear Not (for God hath heard)

Over the past several months my devotionsfear not have taken many twists and turns. I like to change it up quite often in attempt to keep it exciting. One particular study I especially enjoyed a couple months ago. I studied the phrase “Fear Not.” I looked up all the times that phrase was used and went through and read each time. I am not even half way through the list and have already been so blessed by it. So in the next few weeks you will find a series here called “Fear Not”. I will just go through my notebook and share what the Lord has taught me. Feel free to add in where ever you’d like! The very first of this series was When Fear Hinders Your Faith. Feel free to check that out before moving onto today’s post.

“And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of the heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? Fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.” Genesis 21:17

Hagar and her son are unjustly sent out into the wilderness to wander. After some time they run out of water and Hagar sees no hope in the situation. She sets her son a bit away from her and cries. She is certain this is the end. This will lead to death for both of them.

Then a voice comes from heaven. God has heard not her voice but the voice of the lad. Why did God not hear her voice? We see that she lift up her voice and cried in verse 16 but maybe it wasn’t the Lord she was crying to. Maybe she had just given up. She saw her hopeless situation and couldn’t see past it. She lost hope. hagar

I don’t know what the lad cried to the Lord. But I know that God spoke to Hagar when He said, “Fear not.” God showed Hagar grace. He didn’t want her to fear. He saw the situation she was in and had compassion. He didn’t want her to fear. He cares about the situations we are in. He does not look past us. He knows where we are and what we need. We have no need to fear.

So whatever situation you are facing right now know that God cares about it. He doesn’t see it as too small or too big. He sees where you are and wants to help you. He doesn’t want His child to fear. He said to Hagar and says to us, “Fear not.”

  1. You are right. There is no need to fear, because God is with us always. When fear comes we need to remember to go to Him and trust. Thanks for sharing at #LMMLinkup! Blessings to you!
