What’s a Stay at Home Mom Do All Day? My Week in a Flash

Dr. appointments, homeschooling, cWhat does a stay at home mom do all day_baking, cleaning, resting, blogging, crocheting, cooking, meal planning, babysitting, visiting….what doesn’t a stay at home mom do?

Last week I talked a little bit about how random a stay at home mom’s life can be. We can go from chef to janitor in 3 seconds. We say things that seem ridiculous and witness things that are even more ridiculous.

I didn’t really go too much into depth about what a week looks like for me, though, so I thought I’d do that today. I took some photos throughout last week to share with you a little glimpse of what my life is like.

Of course, this isn’t an exhaustive documentary (although it was an exhausting week!). It’s just to give you an idea of what a (pregnant) stay at home, homeschooling, blogging mom does all week!

Every morning starts with Pepper’s request for scrambled eggs and a bowl of rice krispies. Even though she’s only 3 she is quite the chef and helps with making almost every meal. She actually can make things my 5 and 7 year old can’t make yet. Here she is perfecting her grilled cheese making skills.

I was sick most of this week- dealing with a head cold. This makes it extremely difficult to get the homeschooling done. I am sad to say we are a little behind in that area. I have high hopes of catching up this week, though!

My afternoons have been so tricky lately. Being 32 weeks pregnant I can no longer skip the afternoon nap. Even if I don’t fall asleep I HAVE to lay down with Pepper. She, on the other hand, doesn’t really need to sleep every afternoon anymore. Sometimes I open my eyes and see her just watching me.

Monday I was able to get out to the gym. This is my me time. Above any other relaxation I prefer getting out to the gym for a half hour. I had to give up running around 17 weeks pregnant so I switched the elliptical for now. It’s not as satisfying as running for me but still, I really enjoy having this time to myself. I am so thankful for my Fabletics workout clothes. I bought a couple pairs of sweatpants one size up just for pregnancy and they’ve been all I wear.

This week was Valentine’s Day so we had a little fun with that. I didn’t go all out this year like we have in the past with crafts and desserts. We could have I suppose. Instead, we got the kids each a goodie bag with simple treats and toys. It was still really fun even minus all the games and desserts.

The kids were supposed to have a dentist appointment but Jennifer said it would “ruin her Valentine’s Day” so I rescheduled it for this coming week.

Blogging has been taking up most of my extra time lately. Well, blogging and Pinterest. If you are on my email list you know I recently invested in an Ebook that teaches you how to earn income on Pinterest. The author claims you can earn your first affiliate income in 24 hours by using her methods. While I haven’t earned anything since beginning to implement her techniques I am learning a lot about Pinterest and my engagement there. I am very optimistic about her strategies and how I can earn income through them.

If you want to read her ebook you can find it here! It’s all about earning income through Pinterest. You don’t need a blog to get started with it.

So, along with that I have also been reading my book, How To Blog For Profit: Without Selling Your SoulΒ by Ruth Soukup. I started it almost a year ago and never really started taking it seriously until the past month or so. I started it over from the beginning and have been completing all the end of the chapters assignments. It’s a great resource so far and I definitely suggest it! I am only 4 chapters in and I am already benefiting from it. I will give a more in depth review once I’ve finished it.

Laundry. Ugh laundry. It’s actually not as bad as it was. But the laundry machines in our building just aren’t that great. I used to have to bring my laundry from floor to floor to find a working washing machine. The dryer still only half dries the clothes, but that’s okay. I just bring it home and hang it up all over the house.

This week is shopping week. Which means time to meal plan. I use the local grocery flyer to shop sales as well as Checkout 51” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>Checkout 51 Β to get money back on some items. It’s an app that has a list that changes from week to week of grocery items. By uploading your receipt you get cash back on anything that is also on their list. It’s basically free money and I kick myself every time I don’t use it and see something on there I could have gotten money off of.

We did some baking this week, which I haven’t done in a while. I am trying to teach my kids more skills like that. We had a ton of leftover oatmeal and this recipe was great to use that for oatmeal muffins. Of course, I added chocolate chips to ours. I froze them all so Shane can bring them to work.

Our weekends are always sorta weird. The kids usually end up watching a lot of movies. So this weekend it was so nice to get out of the house a little. I took the kids to the Canada Games Centre. It has a ton of activities but all we wanted to do was play in the indoor playground. So, the kids played and wore themselves out for an hour while I crocheted and drank my super yum smoothie.

So as I read this over I see most my pictures are of Pep!Β  It’s just that being a 3 year old, most of my time is spent with her. Next week I will include a little more variety.

What do you do all day? How similar do our weeks look? Are you a stay at home mom? Wife? Blogger? Do you homeschool? Share your week with me!

Every week I link up to these great blogs!

  1. Fun. πŸ™‚ I love your little girls name. So cute. (And, of course, she’s cute too. πŸ™‚ ) — We graduated our older two boys from homeschool. Our youngest went to private school for 1.5 years, but now he’s back home too. I homeschool, write, clean, and am apparently obsessed with Young Living these days. haha. πŸ™‚ Busier than I need to be, but aren’t we all? πŸ™‚ Only a few more weeks till your baby makes an appearance. πŸ™‚ Congrats!

    1. Thanks! I was worried we would get negative responses to her name but so far it’s been all positive! It suits her perfectly, too πŸ™‚ And yes we are counting down the days for baby! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I remember doing the same when all my girls were at home. I am now a grandma & enjoy this part of my life.
Being a blogger! My grandchildren think I am very cool!

You are most welcome to drop by for a tea party in your busy day! The Maple tea post may be a fun reflection for you.

  3. My girls are 11 and 9, and I stayed home until 3 years ago. I work at a school, then come home and take care of them, the house, and laundry, and dinner. You know, the usual. Congratulations on your next baby!

    1. By the time you’ve done all that you’re probably ready for bed! When do you find time to do things you enjoy? And thanks we are very excited!

  4. I won’t be able to say what my days as a SAHM looks like for a few more weeks (I get to quit my job in April) but it’s encouraging that I won’t ever be bored! lol and I thought life as a work-from-home mom was crazy

    1. So exciting that you get to start as a SAHM so soon! You will never look back πŸ™‚ And you definitely won’t be bored!
