Make 2 Weeks of Freezer Meals in 2 Hours

Make 2 Weeks of Freezer Meals in 2 Hours

I mentioned last Make 2 Weeks of Freezer Meals in 2 Hoursweek that my sister came to visit me for a couple weeks last month. It had been nearly two years since I had seen her so as the days got closer all I could think was the things I wanted to do with her when she came.

My sister is skilled in many areas but the kitchen is one of her definite strong points. And not just cooking but cooking healthy meals- clean eating. I asked her to think ahead and help me prepare for a handful of freezer meals. That way, when she was gone and baby was here I would not have to be making supper every night.

My First Week as a Stay at Home Mom {Guest Post}

My First Week as a Stay at Home Mom {Guest Post}

First off, I just want tomy first week as a say how happy I am to have the opportunity to write on Creating Kilter. It is exciting to be able to reach a whole new world of readers and I was so honored to be asked to do this blog post.

So first, a little background about me:
I am a young wife and a mom to a sweet and stubborn (like his mother, I’ll admit) two-year-old boy named Oliver. Long before I married my husband Robert, I knew that all I wanted to do was to be a mom. When we first got married, me becoming a stay at home mom was a pipe dream. My income was double that of my husband’s and it just became a prayer of ours that would have to take a miracle to come true. But this month, that pipe dream has become a reality through the grace of God. I had my last day of work on April 20th and began my journey as a stay at home mom. Of course, if you want to know more details about how this happened, check out my blog at Making Mommy Money.

This morning whenspringcleaningblog I was making breakfast I looked out the window admiring the sunshine. We have had nothing but cloudy days for the past week so this is a welcome change. However, the sunshine revealed something. Something unpleasant.

Sun shining through my windows revealed streaks and smudges all over. Then I started noticing the little specks of dust floating across the room. The dried food was revealed on the table. I could see little splashes of spilled drinks on the legs of the kitchen table and chairs.

Sunshine is so nice but it reveals all the filth, too!

The ONE Thing That Helped My Pregnancy Heartburn

The ONE Thing That Helped My Pregnancy Heartburn

This is my fourth pregnancy. the one thing that finally helped my pregnancy heartburnEach pregnancy has been so very different for me in many ways. But the one thing that stays the same every pregnancy is my worst symptom: heartburn.

I know this is a very typical symptom, although I am sure some have escaped it. In each pregnancy different foods have made it worse. I remember I couldn’t eat popcorn (my favourite snack!) at all with my 2nd pregnancy. The heartburn was just not worth it.

Your New Favourite Sloppy Joe

Do you remember your new favouritethe movie It Takes Two? I remember watching it as a kid when Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen were so popular. Sorry if I am making you feel old right now, but that movie is 23 years old.

Funny, though, that a movie that I watched 23 years ago I can still remember so distinctly the one scene where the rich girl eats her first sloppy joe. She isn’t so sure about it at first but as she starts eating she can’t get enough of it and starts shoving it all over her face as she eats it.

Ok. I know it’s notcreatingkilter.com spring yet. In the Yukon it doesn’t even remotely resemble springtime. Well, it resembles an Arctic springtime. Air is (a little bit) warmer, days are longer, and kids are happily spending hours at a time sledding.

We won’t see the grass or flowers budding for a couple more months but still, it will be spring soon.

I remember as a kid about mewriting my name as an acronym. I remember trying to think of fun ways to describe myself using only the 5 letters in my name. I loved doing that kind of stuff. I like the type of things where I reflect on my own attributes and think about features that are special about me. It’s still fun to me.
